Pull up a chair at our Discussion Tables! The topic: Supernatural accounts in the Bible

Did you know that the Bible records the first (and only that I know of...) account of teleportation? Phillip was the lucky guy. You can read about it in Acts 8:26-40 Let me know what you think!

Now I can't claim to be a SciFi enthusiast. I am amused by some of it, but truthfully, alot of it is beyond me. But I love the 'supernatural'. And I LOVE it that I can find it in the Bible! Did you know that Philip was the first person on record to experience teleportation? In Acts 8:26-40, we learn of the Lord's instruction to Philip to go down a desert road. No explanation-just go. Philip was obedient and found himself in the very unique position to share salvation with an Ethiopian official! This Ethiopian's heart was softened and searching and the Lord responded. Using an obedient servant (Philip), he claimed a stranger from a far off world as His own. Imagine what these men did to expand the Kingdom of God! The Ethiopian asked Philip to baptize him right there on the deset road. Now don't you find it interesting that the Bible makes it very clear it is a desert road and actually says, 'they came to some water'. Not a lake, not a river, and not a stream. Just 'some' water. But it was enough. The word tells us they both went into the water and "when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunich did not see him again, but went on his way, rejoicing. Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all towns until he reached Caesarea."(italicis mine.)

How mighty is our God! I like to think that Philip was honored to serve God. And that God was honored to have Philip serve Him. To be so obedient that the supernatural intervention of God is a simple matter. Note that the scripture tells us Philip '...traveled about, preaching the gospel...'. No pause, no running around telling everyone what happened to him like the blind man. Just business as usual. But yet the fact remains, he was just teleported! Here is a man that is very familiar with the Kingdom of God. So much so that he is not surprised by the power of God. I really don't think many of us in the family are so familiar with our Father. If He were to exude His full power before our eyes, would we miss it? Would we be ready for it? Are we worthy to experience it? Simply put, you and I are heirs to that power. But whether we share it with the Father or not is determined by just that: what do you share with your Father? Anything? Just a few little things; but not the really big things? Or perhaps, the really big things, but not the little things? God wants to share it all. Do you?
